Less is definitely more when it comes to treating summer complexions. Who wants to cart a ton of cosmetics on holiday anyway? Here are the main four steps to minimise your summer beauty routine while still looking great.
1. Hydrating Skincare
Hot weather causes dehydration not to mention potential skin damage. Avoid overloading your skin by choosing lightweight gels and lotions. If possible, choose a product that adds extra sun protection or with other refreshing ingredients such as aloe vera. This will leave skin moisturised with minimum fuss. Regular exfoliation also helps the skin retain moisture and prolongs a tan.
2. Natural Make-Up
Summer make up should look natural and glowing, and compliment sun-kissed skin. Swap foundation for a lightweight tinted moisturiser and add some warmth to cheeks with a soft blush. Use bronzer sparingly, and with a quick slick of lipstick and mascara, you are good to go.
3.Summer Hair
Hair also becomes dehydrated and damaged easily, and colour fades in the sun. Special sun protectant products are available to moisturise and protect hair from sun damage. Try a leave-in conditioner or a deep conditioning treatment to help your hair survive the season. Your hairstyle should be simple and easy to manage without a great deal of styling.
4. Sun Protection
To tan safely, always use SPF appropriate for your skin type and avoid sunburn at all costs. Alternatively, fake it with a salon tan treatment or self tanner. For an authentic result, use a light shade and gradually build up the colour with two or more thin applications.
